Lunching with the Legends

Every year Ultron, the contract arm of the Solutia nylon division, gives out a series of Doc Awards to architectural firms and product manufacturers as a means to recognize outstanding achievement in contract design. The Doc Competition has become one of the architecture and design community’s premier benchmarks of success, attained by only the top professionals. The competition honors superior achievement in contract architectural and interior design projects. In addition to honoring project design, the competition also honors carpet mills for outstanding achievement in product design.

The Doc Awards are key to the ongoing efforts to increase relevance to the people who specify fiber usage in new projects. These prestigious awards garner good P.R., a beautiful trophy and the winners are touted in a series of national trade advertisements as well as getting a trip to New York City. While in the city, they are also invited, as guests of Ultron, to the Interior Design Hall of Fame Banquest held in the Waldorf Astoria.

The awards are given out at an annual luncheon held in New York City. The professionals at Torus Marketing are involved in all phases of the awards ceremony from the judging that takes place at the corporate offices in Kennesaw to the luncheon itself. Torus Marketing works with Ultron to create a unique and cohesive event that lives up to the promise and is worthy of the industry legends who sit at the tables.

To this end, Torus Marketing is deeply involved with the planning and execution of the event. This includes writing and conducting interviews with the judges to create marketing videos and trailers for the web site and field use by Ultron field reps. Torus Marketing creates the materials to entice the entries including bookmark giveaways, full page trade ads and video trailers for use on the Ultron web site. Torus Marketing also consults on the design of the luncheon space as well as creating the presentation materials. This includes a printed program and a comprehensive presentation video complete with customized digital animations. Torus Marketing also coordinates and shoots all of the press photography for the event that is utilized in P.R. efforts as well as by the clients and the winners.
