Marketing to women is a key component in the BrandSource success strategy. Research has proven that women make or influence the vast majority of home and lifestyle related purchase decisions, and that women are more likely to consider a brand for which they have an affinity for by affiliation with charitable causes. BrandSource is involved in a comprehensive partnership that allows the organization to fully leverage their association with RMHC. This three-tiered approach includes an annual donation of cash, product and a formal volunteer program. They have made a commitment in all three of these areas and use them as the foundation for internal and consumer communications.
Since the first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia on October 15, 1974 their mission has not changed…provide “a home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children. These are families who have traveled great distances to hospitals so their child can receive the medical attention they need. In-hospital treatment may last one day, one year, or even longer. For the families of these children, accommodations can be hard to come by; options are often limited to costly hotels or unforgiving hospital chairs and benches. The Ronald McDonald House provides a comfortable, supportive alternative for these families.
BrandSource worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities as an official charity. In addition to providing a variety of volunteer opportunities for the membership within their communities, BrandSource gives as a national organization. As an official donor – BrandSource in association with key supplier – Whirlpool/Maytag, provides appliances to Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the United States, as well as a cash donation. In addition, BrandSource also provides home electronics for Ronald McDonald Houses. These items will fill a tremendous need – given how costly appliances and electronics can be and the number of families served by these houses annually.
